    what is the percentage of Sodium Hydroxide in the caustic soda?

    98%, the other 2% could be mining minerals, or you could have 100 % caustic soda.
  • I have put caustic soda in my bath; it is stuck to the bottom & gone lumpy?
    We have heard that plumbers have used Hydrochloric acid to remove the caustic soda; we have not tested it though.
  • Can I make soap with the caustic soda?

  • What constitution do I mix water with caustic soda?
    the water must be COLD, about 10% in small amounts, constantly mixing.
  • What’s the difference between this and drain cleaner? Both clean drains…
    Caustic soda contains 98% sodium hydroxide compared to Drain cleaner at 55%. However, there are other ingredients that make Drain Cleaner a better drain cleaner than caustic soda e.g. aluminum pieces which assist in heating and cleaning.
  • What shouldn’t it come into contact with?
    Aluminum as it will corrode it.
  • Is it safe for PVC pipes?
    Yes.
  • Is it safe for septics?
    Provided you don’t over do it. 2 applications a month would be OK.
  • Can I use it to clean a dishwasher?
    No, as they usually contain aluminum parts which will be corroded by the crystals.
  • Can I use it to unblock a toilet?
    No, use Drain Clean liquid.
  • Can I buy a larger pack than 2kg?
    You are unable to purchase larger than 2kg in retail stores due to transportation issues.
  • Can I use to clean battery terminals?
    The only uses that we recommend are for drain cleaning & soap making (as per the label).
